NFC / SWP
The NFC technology is possibly the next big thing going on in our business. This is changing a lot of habits, the banking world is merging with the mobile world, and many new infrastructures need to be developped. But do not worry, Micropross is here to help! We are proposing tools to check both digital and RF compliancy of a NFC object , but also the communication with the SWP compatible secure element.
Analog testing of NFC objects (following the ECMA 356 specification)
The ECMA 356 specification provides methods to validate the RF aspect of the exchanges. The aim of those test cases, is to guarantee the interoperability between NFC objects.
This test specification describes a test apparatus, whose characteristics are totally normalised, which will be used to perform a certain number of tests. This guarantees that specialists from around the world are talking about the same thing, the same measurement methods, provided they are performed following the recommandations of the ECMA 356 specification. Described tests cover NFC device as well as NFC tag checking
Micropross proposes an implementation of this test apparatus, provided with all necessary accessories and antennas. This tool (named Universal contactless bench) allows to perform the following tests :
- NFC target tests
- load modulation measurement
- capacity of reception
- timing measurement
- alternating magnetic field (stress test performed under very high field strength)
- NFC initiator
- ability of the initiator to power a target
- detection of the minimum load modulation signal from the target for operation
- qualification of the initiator operating volume
- waveform measurement
The Universal contactless bench operates in association with the MP300 TCL2, an oscilloscope, and a RF amplifier. More detail about the Universal contactless test bench can be found at the following page.
An automation software is supplied with this solution, that makes the performance of all smartcard tests completely automatic. This is a time saving solution, and also avoids any kind of mistakes during the testing process.
- automation of the tests : painful tasks are now easy
- sturdy design of the test apparatus
- supplied with all necessary accessories
- test report generated automatically
Digital testing of NFC objects (following the recommendations of the ISO/IEC 23917 and NFC Forum)
Micropross proposes to the market turnkey solutions, including test hardware, software, and technical support, to perform physical and protocolary testing, following the recommendations defined in the ISO/IEC 23917, and NFC Forum digital testing specifications.
Our solutions include automated software, that perform automatically all test cases, and generate a report, containing multiple information such as the name of the operator, the date and time of the test session, the name of the tests that have been performed, and for each test, a summary of what has happened, the conclusion of the test, and if the test is failed, the reason why the test was failed.
The scope of this test suite covers all digital test cases defined inside the NFC Forum digital test specification.
The test hardware that is used is the Micropross MP300 TCL2, which is the guarantee of the most accurate measurements, and the most reliable results.
Our NFC digital test suite is the most suitable solution for any industrial manufacturing NFC objects, and who wants to ensure his product is compatible with the ISO/IEC 23917 and NFC Forum recommendations.
- solution edited by a NFC Forum member
- completely automatised test process
- automatic generation of test reports
- high quality implementation of the test specification
- based on Micropross hardware
- open for customisation of the pre-defined test cases
Analysis of a complete NFC transaction (contactless + SWP)
The Micropross laboratory tools have the unique ability to be synchronised together, to offer a display of NFC transactions, including the access to the SWP secure element.
This can be achieved by combining two Micropross testers. Two configurations are possible :
- the MP300 TCL2 + MP300 SC1
- the MP300 SCL1 + MP300 SC1
In the first configuration, the MP300 TCL2 will initiate the NFC transaction, and spy at the same time, and the MP300 SC1 will spy the access to the secure element through the SWP link.
In the second configuration, the MP300 SCL1 will spy the contactless transaction, initiated by a third party NFC device, and the MP300 SC1 will spy the access to the secure element through the SWP link.

At the end of the spy session, data captured on contact and contactless interfaces is displayed
Contactless and SWP exchanges are displayed in a graphical manner, synchronised together.

A graphical representation of the exchanges is also available.
It is therefore possible to study the influence of one interface on the other, and even to make timing measurement between both interfaces. For example, it is possible to get very easily the time it takes to a CLF (Contactless front end) to translate contactless frames into SWP.
