RFID
Micropross has a very strong presence in the RFID field, providing test solutions allowing to check the compliancy of a tag and of a reader against test specifications. For tags operating at 13.56MHz, we offer test equipment that will check both analog and digital behaviour of the products, whether the technology involved is Proximity (ISO/IEC 14443-3) or Vicinity (ISO/IEC 15693).
Analog test of contactless ISO/IEC 14443 compliant RFID tags and terminals (following the ISO/IEC 10373-6 specification)
Not all RFID tags are compliant with the ISO 15693 specification. Tags involved in high security or high added value domains embed a CPU, and are compatible with the ISO 14443-3 specification.
The ISO/IEC 10373-6 specification provides methods to validate the RF aspect of the exchanges. The aim of those test cases, is to guarantee the interoperability between readers, smartcards and RFID tags.
This test specification describes a test apparatus, whose characteristics are totally normalised, which will be used to perform a certain number of tests. This guarantees that specialists from around the world are talking about the same thing, the same measurement methods, provided they are performed following the recommandations of the ISO/IEC 10373-6 specification. Described tests cover terminal checking, as well as smartcard verification.
Micropross proposes an implementation of this test apparatus, provided with all necessary accessories and antennas. This tool (named Universal contactless bench) allows to perform the following tests :
- tag tests
- load modulation measurement
- capacity of reception
- timing measurement
- alternating magnetic field (stress test performed under very high field strength)
- terminal tests
- ability of the reader to power a smartcard
- detection of the minimum load modulation signal from the smartcard for operation
- qualification of the reader operating volume
- waveform measurement
The Universal contactless bench operates in association with the MP300 TCL2, an oscilloscope, and a RF amplifier. More detail about the Universal contactless test bench can be found at the following page.
An automation software is supplied with this solution, that makes the performance of all smartcard tests completely automatic. This is a time saving solution, and also avoids any kind of mistakes during the testing process.
- automation of the tests : painful tasks are now easy
- sturdy design of the test apparatus
- supplied with all necessary accessories
- test report generated automatically
Analog test of contactless ISO/IEC 15693 or 18000-3 compliant RFID tags and terminals (following the ISO/IEC 10373-7 or 18047-3 specification)
The ISO/IEC 10373-7 and 18047-3 specification provide methods to validate the RF aspect of the exchanges between a RFID tag and a reader. The aim of those test cases, is to guarantee the interoperability between readers, Vicinity smartcards and RFID tags.

Digital testing of ISO/IEC 14443-3 compatible RFID tags following the ISO/IEC 10373-6 test specification
Micropross proposes to the market turnkey solutions, including test hardware, software, and technical support, to perform physical and protocolary testing, following the recommendations defined in the ISO/IEC 10373-6 specification.
Our solutions include automated software, that perform automatically all test cases, and generate a report, containing multiple information such as the name of the operator, the date and time of the test session, the name of the tests that have been performed, and for each test, a summary of what has happened, the conclusion of the test, and if the test is failed, the reason why the test was failed.
The scope of the test suite covers all items described inside the ISO/IEC 14443-3, and include :
- framing in ISO/IEC 14443 type A
- framing in ISO/IEC 14443 type B
- framing in Mifare TM
- handling of T=CL protocol
- response times checking
- injection of perturbations
The test hardware that is used is the Micropross MP300 TCL2, which is the guarantee of the most accurate measurements, and the most reliable results.
Our ISO/IEC 10373-6 test solution is the ideal tool for any industrial developping a RFID tag, looking for a means to ensure his product is compatible with the ISO/IEC 14443-3 specification
- completely automatised test process
- automatic generation of test reports
- high quality implementation of the test specification
- based on Micropross hardware
- open for customisation of the pre-defined test cases
Digital testing of ISO/IEC 15693 or 18000-3 compatible RFID tags
With the MP300 TCL2 hardware, Micropross offers the most complete tool to perform digital checking of RFID tags.
The MP300 TCL2 is capable of handling all modulation types that can be accepted by a RFID tag, and its spy functionnality will allow you to check all timings and protocol matters.
For more information on the MP300 TCL2, please refer to this page.
Digital testing if ISO/IEC 14443-3, 15693 and 18000-3 RFID tags readers
With the MP300 SCL1, Micropross offers the most customisable RFID tag and smartcard simulator.
This tool is able to push the tested reader to its limits, by emulating a RFID tag.
Both protocolary and physical characteristics of the emulated smartcard are customisable. Those settings include :
- Physical parameters
- Definition of the load modulation of the emulated tag
- Generation of EMDs (Electro Magnetic Disturbances)
- Protocolary parameters
- Content of the frames
- Response time
- Framing errors (parity error, wrong CRC, ...)
The MP300 SCL1 supports the emulation of ISO/IEC 14443 A/B, 15693, 18000-3 RFID tags. For more information on this product, please refer to this page.
